At the master’s level, you have the option to structure your study to suit your interests and career aspirations by choosing between the following:

  • A coursework stream: where you will grow your skills in leadership and advanced clinical practice.
  • A research and coursework stream: where you will add to the body of wound research literature by completing a research project.

Graduates of the Master of Wound Care rapidly upskill to deliver evidence‑based, person‑centred care and to lead service improvement across hospital, community, residential aged care, primary care, and private practice settings. Typical roles include:

  • Advanced/Clinical Nurse Consultant (wound care)
  • Podiatrist with wound specialisation
  • Medical and surgical clinicians with wound leadership portfolios

For those seeking a research pathway, a progression to PhD is available to suitable candidates. Throughout the program, you’ll learn with and from peers across disciplines, building an interprofessional network that is unique to Monash wound care and directly transferable to collaborative clinical environments.

Entry Requirements

You need to satisfy the following entrance requirements to be considered for entry to this course.

Minimum Entry Requirements (Domestic students)

Qualifications

Entry level 1: 72 points to complete - Duration 3 to 5 years part-time An Australian bachelor degree in pharmacy, podiatry, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy or equivalent.
  • At least two years relevant clinical experience.
  • Professional registration.
International students located in Australia wishing to study this course must hold professional registration to practice in Australia and have the appropriate visa to allow part-time study. All other international students are only able to study this course in their country of residence. Students located outside Australia must also hold professional registration to practice in their country of residence.
Entry level 2: 48 points to complete - Duration 2 to 3 years part-time A Monash Graduate Certificate of Wound Care with a minimum mark of 60% in all units.
Entry level 3: 24 points to complete - Duration 1 to 2 years part-time A Monash Graduate Diploma of Wound Care with minimum marks as follows:
  • 70% in MWC5205 Integrated wound care practice.
  • 65% in PGC5101 Evidence based practice.
  • 60% in all other units.

English requirements

Applicants must also meet the English language requirements.

Extra Requirements

Applicants who completed a Graduate Certificate of Wound Care at Monash must have achieved a minimum mark as follows:

  • 60 per cent in all units.

Applicants who completed a Graduate Diploma of Wound Care at Monash must have achieved minimum marks as follows:

  • 70 per cent in MWC5205 Integrated wound care practice.
  • 65 per cent in PGC5101 Evidence based practice.
  • 60 per cent in all other units.

If you do not achieve the minimum marks for course completion you will exit with one of the alternative exit awards.

Fitness for practice and professionalism

To complete your course, you are required to demonstrate that you meet fitness for practice expectations.

You may apply to transfer from another Monash course. Transfers are a competitive process. You may apply mid-year for available courses however consideration will be given as to whether you will be able to follow your course progression.
