A Science (Education) diploma opens a world of opportunity into areas of Chemistry, Physics, Data Management, Psychology and Biology. The new education pathway is an idea way to double your career options, with the education studies specialisation fast-tracking you into the second year of an Education (Honours) and Science double degree*.

You will complete six core science units and two education units. You will also complete 10 days of professional experience in a Victorian classroom.

Minimum Entry Requirements (Domestic students)

Qualifications

Equivalent to Australian Year 11 (part 1) or Australian Year 12 (part 2).

To be accepted into a Monash College Diploma, you must meet the academic and English language requirements. You will also need to check the age, subject and course prerequisites before you apply.

Prerequisite subjects

You must meet the additional course prerequisite subjects which are equivalent to Australian Year 11 (part 1) or Australian Year 12 (part 2).

Part 1: One of Science

Part 2: One of Science or Mathematics

Minimum age requirements

Part 1: 16 years

Part 2: 16 years 6 months

If you do not meet the age requirements, you may be offered a deferred place.

English requirements

Diploma Part 1
IELTS: 5.5 overall (no band lower than 5.0) TOEFL iBT Paper Edition: score of 46 overall with minimum scores: Writing 14, Speaking 14, Listening 4 and Reading 4 Equivalent approved English test

Diploma Part 2
IELTS: 6.0 overall (Writing not less than 6.0) TOEFL iBT Paper Edition: score of  60 overall with minimum scores: Writing 18, Speaking 16, Listening 7, Reading 8 Equivalent approved English test

Part 2 consists of two trimesters over eight months. You will complete six units from science and two from education. You will also complete 10 days of work placement as part of the course.

Classes will help you develop your critical thinking skills and university research techniques. These skills will prepare you for success at Monash University.
