Who should attend
This course will be useful for people who are new to survey design, as well as those who would like to improve their skills and knowledge. It will also benefit people who are planning to design a survey in the future (e.g. PhD students, clinicians, teaching academics), and those who plan to use previously developed surveys for research.
What you will learn
On completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Describe the characteristics of well-designed surveys
- Recognise the principles underpinning survey design
- Design different types of survey questions and response options for surveys
- Develop an awareness of participant sampling and the different methods that may be used to recruit participants
- Explore the advantages and disadvantages of online and paper-based surveys
- Recognise ethical considerations around collection of data using surveys and questionnaires
