Laws and Architectural Studies - L3017

This double degree combines advanced and integrated knowledge of the principal areas of legal practice, legal concepts and broader perspectives about the law with the creative and technical foundations of architectural design. You’ll develop strong knowledge of the Australian legal system and the analytical and communication skills of the legal profession, while also learning about major Design disciplines and ways to approach and shape the built environment. This interdisciplinary grounding provides you with a professional degree which satisfies the academic requirements for admission to practise as an Australian lawyer and valuable skills for transforming the built environment, with pathways into the Master of Architecture, required for registration as an architect, or roles across planning, development, policy and the broader built‑environment sector.

Non- school leavers: Monash applicants (via Internal Course Transfer)
Applicants who have partially completed an undergraduate degree must have completed the equivalent of one semester (24 points) or more of a recognised university degree and no more than the equivalent of two years of full time study (96 point); and achieved a distinction average or better across all the university units, irrespective of discipline. The distinction average is a minimum entry criteria to be eligible for admission, and the average will then be the basis for ranking candidates as part of a competitive selection process.

Non-School leavers: External applicants
Applicants who have partially completed an undergraduate degree must have completed the equivalent of one year (48 points) or more of a recognised university degree and no more than the equivalent of two years of full time study (96 points); and achieved a distinction average or better across all the university units, irrespective of discipline. The distinction average is a minimum entry criteria to be eligible for admission, and the average will then be the basis for ranking candidates as part of a competitive selection process.

Graduate entry requirements
Non-law graduates considering a career in the law are only eligible to apply for the Juris Doctor. The Faculty of Law does not accept single unit enrolments for undergraduate studies, except for cross institutional enrolments or for law graduates returning to complete units in order to practise in Victoria.
