Artificial Intelligence - C2005

The Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence equips you to turn complex problems into practical, AI-enabled solutions across industries – from business and healthcare to government, logistics and the creative sectors.

It offers two specialisations and is innately applied, integrating industry immersion and experience to ensure you graduate with a portfolio that proves your capabilities.

Learn how to apply existing AI tools to address a pressing problem with a built and tested solution. Or advance the state of AI technology itself by working with its foundational algorithms and models.

Expect to undertake professional practice units engaging industry, and tap into additional work-integrated learning opportunities like placements which all contribute to your degree. While building this experience, you’ll also learn to navigate critical societal and environmental challenges related to AI – giving you holistic literacy.

The Bachelor of AI is a future-focused, hands-on degree underpinned by ethical, responsible and secure practice. It teaches you how to work with AI from ideation to implementation to address a pressing problem with a built and tested solution.

Throughout the course, undertake a series of professional practice units and access other work-integrated learning opportunities like placements and internships – graduating with a portfolio that demonstrates your expertise.

Entry Requirements (Domestic students)

There are many ways to be considered for entry to a Monash University degree depending on your educational background and history. The below options reflect the academic requirements for the different applicant categories (or the highest level of education previously completed) to be considered for this Monash course. All applicants must satisfy equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites or equivalent tertiary units including the English language requirements.

Applicants with VET Study

VET Diploma graduates:

To be considered, applicants who are applying with a diploma, in any field of study, will require a minimum average result of at least 60%. Preference will be given to students whose prior studies are related to the course in which they are seeking admission. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not meet the admission requirements. IT related diplomas may receive up to a maximum of 48 points of first year level credit. All applicants must satisfy the equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites demonstrating the required level of performance.

VET Certificate IV graduates:

Preference will be given to students whose prior studies are related to the course in which they are seeking admission. To be considered, applicants will normally require at least 70% average. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not meet the admission requirements.

All applicants must satisfy the equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites demonstrating the required level of performance.

Started or Completed a Bachelor Degree
Applicants with Higher Education Study

Applicants will require a minimum 60% average to be considered for selection. Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements of the course with their previous Year 12 (or equivalent) qualification must complete at least one academic year (equivalent to eight Monash units) of university study. Preference will be given to applicants whose prior studies are related to the course.

All applicants must satisfy the equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites demonstrating the required level of performance.

Applicants who have successfully completed Year 12 are eligible to apply for this course.

Applicants with no formal secondary or tertiary qualifications are not eligible to apply for this course. This course uses the entire academic record as part of its selection considerations.

Partner with another course

Double degree courses allow you to study towards two different degrees at the same time, and graduate with two separate qualifications. And because a required subject in one course can count as an elective in the other, our double degrees take up to two years less than if you studied for the two degrees separately.

You may apply to transfer from another Monash course. Transfers are a competitive process. You may apply mid-year for available courses however consideration will be given as to whether you will be able to follow your course progression.

Please note that if you apply for a course transfer, you should still enrol in your current course as if you were continuing so as not to jeopardise your enrolment in the Faculty if your transfer application is unsuccessful. More about Course Transfer.
