How do I apply?

VTAC applications for 2026 entry (Semester one)

If you experience unforeseen circumstances between the close of equity schemes and end of the exam period, you can apply for late equity schemes consideration with Monash.

Late equity schemes (SEAS) applications

Late equity schemes (formerly SEAS) applications are only accepted from applicants for unexpected circumstances experienced after VTAC’s equity schemes closing date (Monday, 13 October, 5pm). Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants are eligible to apply for late equity schemes and are exempt from meeting the criteria below. All applicants will be automatically considered for scholarships.

To be considered for late equity schemes, your application must meet the following criteria:

  • Be unexpected, beyond your control and have had a negative impact on your education outcomes, and
  • Have occurred on or after VTAC’s equity schemes closing date (Monday, 13 October, 5pm), and
  • Have not received consideration through the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), or
  • Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and did not submit a VTAC equity schemes application.

  • Exacerbation of an ongoing illness or circumstance
  • Personal hardship or trauma
  • Bereavement
  • Violence or sexual assault
  • Change of residency status
  • Public transport delays
  • Forgetting to lodge an equity schemes application
  • Misreading your exam timetable

The categories considered for late SEAS are:

Personal information and location

  • Indigenous Australian

No supporting documents are required. Information from your application will be used to assess your eligibility for these categories.

The William Cooper Institute will reach out to Indigenous Australian applicants to confirm your eligibility.

Difficult family and life circumstances
  • An impact statement outlining your circumstances and how they have affected your preparation for tertiary study, and
  • A statement of support from a relevant professional with knowledge of your circumstances, such as a medical practitioner, lawyer, counsellor, teacher, religious or community leader. Please note Statements of Support from non professionals such as friends and neighbours will not be accepted.
Disadvantaged financial background

If you receive a Centrelink benefit, provide one of the following:

  • Centrelink Reference Number (CRN), or
  • Customer Access Number (CAN), or
  • hard copy evidence of the benefit you receive.

If your parents/guardian receive a Centrelink benefit, you must provide a hard copy of their Centrelink statement listing your name and combined family income.

If you and/or your family don't receive a Centrelink benefit, provide:

  • an impact statement outlining how your financial circumstances have negatively affected your preparation for tertiary study, and
  • a statement of support from someone with knowledge of your financial circumstances, such as a lawyer, social worker, or accountant.
Living with a disability or medical condition
  • An impact statement about the nature and time period of your condition, outlining how it has negatively affected your preparation for tertiary study, and
  • A statement of support from a relevant professional with knowledge of your condition such as a health professional or educational practitioner.
