Monash University has introduced a new Graduate Certificate of Pharmacist Prescribing that aims to thoroughly equip pharmacists to make safe, person-centred prescribing decisions.
Early applications are encouraged due to a limited number of available places in this first intake. Applications will be processed, and offers made sequentially, based on the time of submission, to applicants who meet the minimum entry requirements. Please note that this course is designed to support pharmacists in making safe prescribing decisions and patient assessments. The units included in 'Part A: Core prescribing skills studies' are accredited with conditions by the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC). Other components cover the diagnosis and management of specific primary care conditions.
The scope of pharmacist practice in Australia is constantly changing and is subject to national as well as state/territory legislation. It is your responsibility to confirm the training requirements that must be met in order for you to engage in expanded prescribing activities as a pharmacist in your state/territory of practice.

An Australian bachelor degree or equivalent in Pharmacy

Applicants must also meet the English language requirements.

Current Monash students
You may apply to transfer from another Monash course. Transfers are a competitive process. You may apply mid-year for available courses however consideration will be given as to whether you will be able to follow your course progression.
Please note that if you apply for a course transfer, you should still enrol in your current course as if you were continuing so as not to jeopardise your enrolment in the Faculty if your transfer application is unsuccessful. More about Course Transfer.

Fees
The cost of the full program (two microcredentials and two units) to the learner is approximately $12,000.
Fee-Help
Eligible learners may apply for FEE-HELP for traditional units of study only. There is no payment plan or loan option for the microcredential components of the course.

Otoscope: Approximately $160
Cost of travel and other associated expenses for attendance at compulsory face to face workshops and assessments will vary depending on personal circumstances and requirements.
You may incur additional travel costs related to completing work-integrated learning components under the supervision of a designated prescriber.
You are required to provide the following documents with your application:
- Academic transcripts (as evidence of completion of a bachelor degree)
- Proof of residency status (e.g. copy of birth certificate, passport or visa)
- Proof of professional registration
