MUCCU Clinical Lung Ultrasound - PDM1204

The Monash University Critical Care Ultrasound (MUUCU) short courses, with its unique combination of flexible online delivery and practical hands-on support sessions at clinical sites, enables you to acquire this critical competency at your own pace.

This micro-credential Clinical Lung Ultrasound module forms part of the suite of MUCCU short courses. It introduces you to the requisite knowledge required to perform a lung ultrasound examination in clinical context for the diagnosis of lung parenchymal disease.

Basic: A$2,500
Optional additional 1:1 hands-on sessions:

  • A$150 per hour for junior registrars
  • A$250 per hour for consultants

Who should attend

All clinicians are eligible to apply but enrolment is subject to the approval of your lead clinician at your participating clinical site (i.e. Eastern Health, Monash Health or Western Health).

What you will learn

Participants will engage in scanning patients at their own clinical site under supervision to apply these principles and develop basic practical skills in the clinical environment. They will also be required to demonstrate their ability to interpret ultrasound findings and make correct decisions regarding the clinical management plan.

Program structure

Your learning and assessment activities will include:

  • lectures, videos and recommended reading
  • formative assessments of authentic clinical case studies summative assessment (MCQs) of your clinical knowledge online
  • four hours of personal 1:1 practical scanning sessions with qualified and highly experienced sonographers (with options for more 1:1 hours)
  • formative and summative practical assessments with lead clinicians
