Master of Paramedic Practitioner

Graduate

The Master of Paramedic Practitioner is designed for experienced registered paramedics seeking to develop advanced practice capability across urgent, non-urgent, primary healthcare, community and critical care settings. The course prepares paramedics to undertake advanced clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, prescribing, care planning and healthcare intervention for people with diverse and complex health needs.

The course has been structured as a higher-entry master’s program for paramedics who have already completed relevant postgraduate preparation, or who can demonstrate equivalent professional capability through an approved professional portfolio. It focuses on the advanced practice components of paramedic practitioner development, including advanced clinical decision-making, therapeutic medication management, person-centred care, interprofessional practice, leadership, service development and evidence-informed practice.

A key component of the course is supervised clinical practice. Applicants must provide written evidence of organisational support to undertake a minimum of 300 hours of supernumerary supervised clinical practice during the course. This supervised practice must provide access to relevant clinical experiences and appropriate supervision from a Paramedic Practitioner, Nurse Practitioner or Medical Practitioner.

This page provides supporting information and documents for applicants, including links to the Monash Handbook, course entry requirements, application information and the Confirmation of Supervised Clinical Practice Support form.
