The Master of Advanced Health Care Practice (MAHCP) is designed for registered health care professionals seeking to advance their expertise and leadership in clinical practice or research. This course provides a flexible and focused pathway to deepen your knowledge within your chosen discipline while developing the skills required for advanced roles in health care.

The course structure allows you to tailor your learning to your professional goals. All students begin with a shared core unit in advanced health care practice. From there, you can choose between
- A coursework pathway to enhance your clinical and professional capabilities, or
- A research pathway that includes clinical and professional education as well as a supervised research project - ideal for those considering further academic study or PhD entry.
This flexible design supports both professional development and academic progression, while ensuring alignment with discipline-specific requirements.

You need to satisfy the following entrance requirements to be considered for entry to this course.
Minimum Entry Requirements (Domestic students)
Qualifications
An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline with at least 50% average.
and
Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) or equivalent accredited professional registration body.
and
A minimum of two years equivalent full-time experience in a cognate discipline and evidence of current engagement in Clinical Practice in the area of specialisation.
and
Submission of an extensive professional portfolio approved by the Faculty. The Professional Portfolio should demonstrate continued professional learning in the applicant’s professional discipline as well as outcomes and achievements in their area of practice. The Portfolio should provide evidence of activities and outcomes equivalent to the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) Level 8 (https://www.aqf.edu.au/).
OR
An Australian undergraduate honours degree or a 4-year entry-to-practice undergraduate degree in a cognate discipline with at least 50% average.
and
Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) or equivalent accredited professional registration body.
and
A minimum of two years equivalent full-time experience in a cognate discipline and evidence of current engagement in Clinical Practice in area of specialisation.
OR
A Master’s qualifying degree in a cognate discipline, with at least 50% average.
and
Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) or equivalent accredited professional registration body.
and
A minimum of two years equivalent full-time experience in a cognate discipline and evidence of current engagement in Clinical Practice in area of specialisation.
PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO
AIM OF PORTFOLIO: The Professional Portfolio should demonstrate continued professional learning in the applicant’s professional discipline and outcomes and achievements in their area of practice. The Portfolio should provide evidence of activities and outcomes equivalent to the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) Level 8 https://www.aqf.edu.au/).

1. Prepare a Professional Portfolio according to the specified criteria and template.
2. Sign the statutory declaration that all the information provided is a true and accurate.

In accordance with the National Health and Medical Research Council recommendations, this course requires that you comply with the faculty's Mandatory Compliance requirements regarding immunisation and vaccination. These requirements are designed to provide maximum protection against the increased risk of some vaccine preventable diseases for students, patients and workers in health care settings.
Paediatric Physiotherapy specialisation - if you are undertaking Paediatric Physiotherapy specialisation, you must demonstrate compliance with the following requirement:
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Screening check
A current NDIS Worker Screening check is required to undertake clinical/fieldwork placements.
Fitness for practice and professionalism
To complete your course, you are required to demonstrate that you meet fitness for practice expectations.

Fees are per 48 credit points which represents a standard full-time course load for a year. The fees for 2026 are:
