The Professional Certificate of Public Health is designed to enhance your understanding of key public health principles and practice. This program will provide you with a strong understanding of public health theory and principles, public health policy and advocacy, health promotion program planning and health communication.
This part-time course is ideal for professionals in public health, health promotion, data science, epidemiology, biostatistics, health research or anyone working in health and interested in public health. It is particularly beneficial for those in roles such as research officer, health promotion officer, health data analyst, research assistant, medical writer, or clinical research associate.
To gain the Professional Certificate of Public Health, you must complete the following two units:
- MPH5288 - Public Health Fundamentals
- MPH5002 - Foundations of Health Promotion and Program Planning

You need to satisfy the following entrance requirements to be considered for entry to this course.
Minimum Entry Requirements (Domestic students)
Qualifications
An Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent).
OR
A minimum of three years of relevant work experience*.
*Relevant work experience in the field of Health and Public Health and includes in the health industry (e.g. Government, policy, provider e.g. hospital, clinic), non-government organisation (NGO), academic or research institution, consulting, pharmacist and pharmaceutical company etc.
English requirements
Applicants must also meet the English language requirements.
University entrance requirements
Minimum entrance requirements for admission to Monash University Australia.
Extra Requirements
Proof of relevant work experience e.g. Curriculum Vitae (CV) and statement from employer to substantiate period of employment.
