Research expertise
The Department of Marketing at the Monash Business School offers a rich and vibrant intellectual environment for academics, PhD students, industry, and alumni. Our undergraduate and post-graduate marketing programs are designed to equip students with cutting-edge knowledge and the skills necessary to make optimal decisions that drive value for any organisation. Our one-year Honours program offers a pathway into our PhD program and is also highly valued by industry. We host a world-class PhD program that has produced prominent alumni with outstanding achievements in both academia and industry.
The Department of Marketing brings together a diverse and innovative team of academics whose research provides insights for businesses, consumers, and policy makers. We examine strategic issues within business systems in the areas of product management, services, pricing, communications, branding, B2B and channel management, retailing, data analytics, and customer journey optimisation. We also examine key issues within social systems addressing consumer wellbeing, thriving communities, sustainability, and impact of emerging technologies.
In addressing these overarching themes and substantive issues, we draw on a range of paradigms and research methodologies, from behavioural experimentation, modelling, and econometric analysis to ethnography, interviews, and survey analysis. We work closely with industry and government to better understand the broader role and influence of marketing policies and strategies on society.
As thought leaders, we create opportunities for industry, alumni, and academics to come together to explore and advance knowledge and practices in the marketing discipline. We regularly organize seminars, conferences, business breakfasts, marketing dialogues, as well as biennial research camps and teaching retreats.
