Staff Equity and Diversity Survey

2021 Staff Equity and Diversity Survey

The survey is now closed.

A focus on equity, diversity and inclusion has been fundamental to our organisational strategy for more than three decades. The Staff Equity and Diversity survey has been developed to help us better understand how Monash staff experience their work and identify how we can further build a workplace culture that values diversity and supports inclusion.

We encourage you to take part and share your views related to workplace culture, inclusive practices, career progression and development, flexible work, support for parents and carers.

Contributing your responses to this survey will help inform a range of opportunities and actions designed to improve equity, transparency, accessibility and support for staff irrespective of their gender identity, age, sexual orientation, religion, cultural background, faiths and heritages. Findings will influence the University's multi-year action plans within the Diversity and Inclusion Framework and will support the development of new evidence-based action plans.

Survey Content

In this survey, we ask staff about their experiences and perceptions of:

  • Workplace Culture
  • Academic development and career progression (academic staff)
  • Professional development and career progression (professional staff)
  • Flexible working
  • Support for parents and carers

Socio-demographic and employment details will further allow us to analyse survey data for specific groups as we recognise that experiences of our staff are influenced by many different factors.

Survey length

The survey will take 5-10 minutes to complete depending on how many additional comments you choose to include.

Save and Continue

If you are unable to finish the survey in one go, you can click on the same survey link again within 2 weeks and re-enter where you left off. No 'save button' is required because this feature works by placing a cookie in your browser. However, it will only work as long as you return to the survey on the same internet browser on the same computer.

Participation in the survey is voluntary and the survey is anonymous. Every person receives the same survey link, which means the link is not individualised and responses cannot be tracked. When reporting, data will be aggregated and no individual's answers will be identified. While we ask respondents to state in what faculty or division they mostly work, disclosing the name of their department is optional. Please note, results will not be analysed or reported for groups of data where fewer than 10 people responded.

If you have any questions about the survey, please email or call Dr Lucie Joschko, Manager Staff Equity and Diversity, on 03-9902 0246.
