STEMM Women Academic Network
Background
The demand for formal networking opportunities has emerged repeatedly over the years and has been recognised by many as critical to academic success. In particular, early-mid-career researchers and postdoctoral staff in STEMM spoke about the value of having a women-only network to make connections with colleagues in other departments, having a platform to make their voices heard and a source of support.
In response to this feedback, the Athena SWAN Steering Group developed an action item to establish "STEMM Women Academic Network" (SWAN) with the aim of facilitating network and mentoring opportunities within Monash University.
