Employee Experience Survey

Purpose

HR Equity Diversity

The survey is a requirement under the Gender Equality Act 2020 and forms part of the University’s biennial gender audit, which is reported to the Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector.

The survey focus is on understanding staff experiences in the workplace, including organisational culture, inclusive practices, manager support, access to professional development, experiences with bullying and harassment, equal employment opportunity, flexible work and wellbeing.

It is distinct from the Monash global staff engagement survey, Your Say, which was launched in 2024.

All Monash University staff employed in Australia are invited to participate. Participation in the survey is voluntary and responses will remain completely anonymous through a link which cannot be traced to any individual.

Staff can skip questions and/or discontinue the survey at any point.

Survey availability

The survey was open from Wednesday 21 May until 5pm AEST on Wednesday 18 June. The survey is now closed.

Survey duration

The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

How survey results will be used

All complete responses will be reported to the Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector (CGEPS). Internally, data will be analysed to inform our progress on strategies and initiatives aimed at fostering respectful workplace culture, inclusion, and equality, while also guiding the development of Monash’s Gender Equality Action Plan 2026-2030.

Support is available

Some questions asked in the survey (for example, questions about sexual harassment or bullying) may be upsetting to some staff.

If you need support, Monash staff can reach out through the Employee Assistance Program.

Additionally, staff can seek advice or assistance regarding unacceptable behaviour from HR Business Partner or Monash HR; the Respectful and Ethical Conduct Team by contacting ethical.conduct.queries@monash.edu or (03) 9902 4945; or the Safer Community Unit by contacting safercommunity@monash.edu or (03) 9905 1599.

You can skip questions or discontinue the survey at any time.
