Career Constellations
How to Build your Circle of Mentors and Collaborators
Join us in this gender equity pilot program consisting of a half-day workshop, tailored to the participant's needs, on enhancing your personal academic network. This is a proud initiative of the Athena Swan Steering Group and the Staff Equity, Diversity and Inclusion team, as part of our commitments in the Monash Gender Equality Action Plan 2026-2030.
Successful careers often depend on who we know and how well-connected we are.
Mentors and collaborators can open doors, advocate for opportunities, and provide crucial advice that changes how we see the world. To build resilience and broaden opportunities, a proactive approach to building a career-supporting network is best.
This workshop is designed to equip you with the relational leadership skills and strategies needed to curate your own, unique career constellations — no matter your career stage.
Program Details
As part of the workshop, staff complete a pre-workshop survey to gauge participants' specific needs, which are then used to tailor the content of the workshop to the group in the room. The survey explores participants' current network and mentorship relationships, motivations for attending, and career stage needs.
The pilot program, supported as part of our gender equity activities, is available for level B, C and D academic women employed at Monash University Australia on a 0.4 fraction and above on a fixed-term or permanent basis.
2026 pilot dates
Please note that this pilot gender equity initiative only appears in myDevelopment for the target group of academic women indicated above. If you believe you should be able to register but are unable to, please contact us for assistance.
