My motivation to study a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Bachelor of Information Technology was that it supported my passion for creative arts while stimulating my interest in more analytical environments.
Prior to University, I had no experience with IT but I had become infatuated by the world of digital art. This double degree was the perfect combination to allow a pursuit of a wide variety of careers, between the Fine Arts, Graphic Design, and Development, without sacrificing any of my interests.
I most enjoy the diversity of learning I receive and the connections I’ve made with others in both disciplines. Each of my classes deliver such unique skills which aid me in experimenting with the application of my creative endeavours. I love that the theories and practices I learn in my Visual Arts courses bring a new perspective to my IT subjects and likewise, the techniques and software skills I’ve learned in IT allow me to create and exhibit my works in unique ways.
My goal has always been to pursue a career in animation. I have potential plans to continue onto a post-graduate in 2D/3D animation in the UK. However, this double degree has opened my eyes to the vast range of professions which seamlessly combine creativity with technology.
Perhaps my mind will change in a year’s time but I hope that wherever I am, I am still creating!
