What we do

The Gukwonderuk Hands on Health program is an exciting opportunity for primary and high school aged Indigenous students to engage in healthcare careers in a culturally relevant way.

Program aims

  • Excite and inspire student aspirations to healthcare careers via hands on health activities
  • Develop student knowledge of a broad range of health careers
  • Engage students in asking questions about their health and future
  • Develop student understanding of Indigenous medicine and wellbeing
  • Engage secondary school students transition into university life
  • Support student navigation through the application process and pathways to health courses
  • Bring the schools along on the journey to grow Indigenous students’ aspirations to health careers

The Hands on Health program can help schools and their staff achieve  Reconciliation Action Plan and curriculum commitments by providing ways for Indigenous students to engage with health and wellbeing concepts and health careers in a meaningful way.
