Improving access to rehabilitation for people with dementia View

Dementia is a leading cause of disability, however many people living with dementia miss out on opportunities to access evidence-based rehabilitation. Rehabilitation can help people living with dementia to maximise their independence and quality of life, and to do the things that are important to them.

The resources below explore barriers to accessing rehabilitation, and share solutions to improve rehabilitation access via education and information.

This brochure provides information about how to find an allied health professional with experience in dementia care, questions you can ask your GP to prompt an allied health referral, and some examples of how different types of allied health professionals can provide specialist support.

Engaging people with dementia in physical activity View

Lower and declining activity levels are common for people with dementia – however they also likely contribute to a decline in physical and cognitive health, increasing the risk of chronic disease and falls, reduced quality of life, and social isolation. The resources below were developed to facilitate community-based physical activity engagement for people with mild dementia.

This booklet shares a new model of care for community-based physical activity engagement for people living with mild dementia.
