2026 Understanding and treating ADHD across the lifespan
This course is designed for professionals working with those with ADHD lived experience in childhood, adolescence and adulthood. The course explores the assessment, diagnosis and management of ADHD, including in the context of psychiatric comorbidity. Students will gain a high level of competence in straightforward cases and complex and 'difficult to treat' cases. The program is essential for clinicians working in child, adolescent and adult psychiatry, including addiction psychiatry, perinatal, psychogeriatric and liaison psychiatry fields. It is suitable for prescribing clinicians – psychiatrists, psychiatry registrars, GPs, clinical nurse practitioners, paediatricians, and geriatricians.
12 weekly webinars are delivered live and online by the experts, followed by discussion with the experts. The content is complemented by reading materials and teaching activities provided on the course site.
The course is now a RACGP CPD accredited course. GPs can gain 15 hours under 'Educational Activities' for attending this course.
Psychopharmacology & Physical Treatments in Mental Health Care
*NEW in 2027* This professional development education program is delivered by Prof Nicholas Keks, Assoc Prof Judy Hope, and Dr Richard Bradlow, to advance participants’ practice and knowledge of psychopharmacology and physical treatments in the management of psychiatric disorders. The format is a 7-week series of live online lectures, followed by case-based ‘clinical reasoning in action’ interactive discussions for participants to engage with the expert presenters.
The course provides participants with up-to-date information on specific medications, prescribing practicalities and safe and effective treatment options and recommendations for the major psychiatric disorders in adults.
The course is specifically designed for prescribing clinicians working in mental health care and treatment: psychiatrists in public and private practice settings, psychiatry registrars, GPs, OB-GYNs and nurse practitioners.
Optional self-directed learning materials are provided – readings, resources, and online discussion forums, and recordings of the lectures are available for the duration of the course. Foundations of Psychedelic Therapies
Delivered by leading experts, this postgraduate-level short course explores one of the most innovative and promising areas of mental health treatment: psychedelic therapies. Psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) integrates psychoactive compounds with psychotherapy to address conditions like depression, PTSD, and addiction. The course covers clinical research methods and findings, therapeutic approaches, key therapist competencies, participant experiences in clinical trials, the challenges of stigma and hype surrounding the field, safety monitoring and screening protocols, and the unique ethical considerations of PAT. Students will learn about psychedelic and psychedelic-like compounds, models of care, patient groups, and therapist training, and explore controversies and debates in the field. Delivered online over 12 weeks through a combination of lectures, case studies, and reflective activities, this microcredential offers a flexible and accessible way to explore the rapidly developing clinical psychedelic field.
Psychedelic Science: Fundamentals to Frontiers
Delivered by expert educators in Australia and internationally, this postgraduate-level short course explores psychedelic science from multidisciplinary perspectives. This course delves into historical and indigenous contexts of psychedelic use, the modern resurgence of interest in psychedelic treatments, psychopharmacology, phenomenology, clinical research methods and findings, ethical considerations, pivotal debates, and future directions. Students will gain a robust, evidence-based understanding of psychedelic science. It is designed to be engaging for newcomers and experienced professionals alike.
