Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is an incurable autoimmune disease that can result in significant disease complications such as strokes, end-stage kidney failure and premature death.

Compared to other autoimmune diseases, there has been a lack of new drug approvals for treating SLE, in part due to issues with the current outcome measures used in SLE clinical trials.

The global TRM-SLE Taskforce, established in 2022, is developing a new clinical trial outcome measure to overcome the issues with current clinical trial outcome measures.

This site provides an overview of work towards development of the Treatment Response Measure for SLE (TRM-SLE) outcome measure.

The TRM-SLE project is managed by Clinical Sciences at Monash Health.

Lupus Science & Medicine

The next major work of the TRM-SLE Taskforce has been published in Lupus Science & Medicine: the results of a modified Delphi study involving 87 doctors and 13 patients through which eight domains of active immune-mediated disease manifestations have been selected for measurement as part of the TRM-SLE instrument.
