PRESENT is a 3-year multi-centre randomised controlled trial investigating pasteurised donor human milk as supplemental nutrition for term infants of women with diabetes in pregnancy. It is led by University of Queensland and Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and Lifeblood in collaboration with Monash University, La Trobe University, Royal Women’s Hospital, Ramsay Health Care, University of Melbourne, and the South Australia Health and Medical Research Institute.
Global and Women’s Health is leading a sub-study which explores parent and stakeholders’ perceptions and experiences of Pasteurised Donor Human Milk as supplementation for infants of women with diabetes in pregnancy. Approximately 30 women will be identified through purposive sampling from the cohort recruited into the randomised controlled trial and will be interviewed about their attitudes and perceptions towards donor human milk, their experiences of Pasteurised Donor Human Milk as supplementation for infants of women with diabetes in pregnancy and their breastfeeding experiences.
