Starting a PhD in Health and Social Care
Starting a PhD may be a daunting first step in anyone’s academic career, yet pursuing a PhD offers an opportunity to explore an area of passion, make a significant contribution to knowledge and science, and advance the delivery of health promotion to support the wellbeing of our community.
The aim of Kostas’s PhD will be to investigate the current need for health promotion across the disability sector from the perspectives of people with disability and their carers.
The PhD will involve the co-design of a training package for carers that will aim to address the identified needs. This research will harness the principles of consumer and community involvement to develop a program that is well-aligned with the needs of its recipients.
These principles ultimately build the foundation of the work in the Health and Social Care Unit and are critical in ensuring the research is relevant to the implementation context.
