PhD student awarded Cost-Effectiveness Analysis Paper of the Year

Health Economics Group PhD student Tan NguyenCongratulations to Health Economics Group PhD student Tan Nguyen for winning the 6th annual Center for the Evaluation of Value and Risk in Health (CEVR) Cost-Effectiveness Analysis Paper of the Year Award!

Tan's co-authored paper is titled Modeled health economic and equity impact on dental caries and health outcomes from a 20% sugar sweetened beverages tax in Australia. His Monash University Health Economics Group supervisors include Professor Cathy Mihalopoulos (Primary Supervisor) and Dr Long Le, and Deakin University Associate Supervisor Professor Hanny Calache.

Tan’s paper was selected from 28 nominations for its novelty and exemplary use of health equity considerations in economic evaluations. The paper was assessed according to three criteria:

  • Timeliness and importance
  • Methodological quality
  • Potential influence on policy or clinical decision making
