Library access
Three things come with your degree
Getting in takes two steps
One is instant. The other can take up to two business days to activate, so it's worth starting now rather than the night before you need something.
1. Your Alumni Portal accountAlready have one? Sign in here, find Library Access and click Explore Resources. Don't have one yet? Request access through the alumni contact form. We'll email you an activation link, then you'll confirm your date of birth and set up multi-factor authentication. That step protects both your account and the licences that make this free for alumni, and it takes up to two business days to complete. | 2. Sign in and start searchingInside the Portal, find Library Access and click Explore Resources. That signed-in session routes you to all 33 alumni databases. No second library login, nothing to install. |
Waiting on activation?
Three things you can do today: visit a Monash University library branch, install the Lean Library extenstion, and email the library for a borrowing card.
A desk, when you want oneWorking from home has its limits. Monash University Library branches are open to alumni as a place to read, work and think, with a café close by on most campuses. Bookable study rooms and 24/7 study spaces are for current students only. | ![]() |
![]() | Let your browser do the checkingLean Library is a free browser extension. Install it, choose Monash as your institution, and it flags the articles you can already read as you search the web, then prompts you to sign in when one is available. You'll turn up things you'd otherwise have paid for, or given up on. |
Borrowing print is a seperate, one-time registrationYour Portal account covers the digital collection. Physical books work differently, and they don't need a Portal account at all. Email librarians@monash.edu with your full name, Monash ID and mailing address. The Library will issue an alumni library card, which you can collect in person or have posted to you.
You can find your Monash ID in the footer of your last alumni email communication from us. | ![]() |
