Uthra is a PhD candidate with the Design Health Collab and the IIT Bombay - Monash Research Academy, supervised by Prof.Daphne Flynn, Dr.Selby Coxon and Dr.Sugandh Malhotra. Her research explores the opportunities to improve accessibility and emergency response for health care services in rural areas with design led innovations that can enhance the delivery of care and user experience.

With a background in Textile and Industrial Design from NIFT and IIT Bombay, her work explores the intersection of people, materiality, and healthcare to develop tangible and equitable solutions.


Exploring accessibility solutions for healthcare emergencies in Rural areas

My research investigates design-led approaches to advance health equity in rural areas starting from India, focusing on inclusive and context-responsive solutions. By addressing factors such as community awareness, geographic challenges, and mobility barriers, the work aims to enhance healthcare access and quality of life in underserved regions
