Monash researchers and the Citarum program team, along with our partners Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Padjadjaran, West Java Environmental Agency and R&D Agency, recently participated in the hybrid 24th International River Symposium in Brisbane.
The symposium was attended by global river researchers and practitioners, and was our team’s first contribution to the international conversation on global rivers in crisis, since the signing of our agreement in July to support Citarum River revitalisation strategies in collaboration with the Provincial Government of West Java.
Monash’s transdisciplinary team presented on the complex cross-cutting issues of river revitalisation - including governance, indigenous rights, and learning and innovation, as well as offering a keynote on global water and river challenges more broadly.
