Monash academics honoured in Victoria’s top architecture awards

A roster of Monash academics are included in the winners of the 2024 Victorian Architecture Awards, which showcase outstanding contributions to architectural design across Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Out of 228 nominations, 39 awards and 22 commendations were presented, including:

Practice Professor Nigel Bertram, Director of NMBW Architecture Studio

  • Category: Commercial Architecture
    • Sanders Place. NMBW, Openwork & Finding Infinity
    • The Sir Osborn McCutcheon Award for Commercial Architecture

Senior Lecturer, Dr Timothy Moore, Research Director of Sibling Architecture 

  • Category: EmAGN Project Award
    • Wangaratta District Specialist School. Sibling Architecture
    • EmAGN Project Award

The EmAGN Project Award celebrates excellence by acknowledging projects where EmAGN members, within fifteen years of graduation and ten years of registration, have made significant contributions to a project.

Adjunct Professor Kerstin Thompson, Director and Principle, Kerstin Thompson Architects, whose studio took out three commendations, including:

  • Category: Public Architecture
    • The Round. BKK Architects + Kerstin Thompson Architects
    • Commendation for Public Architecture

Industry Fellow in Architecture, Danielle Peck, founding Director of Architecture Associates

Finally, congratulations to Victorian Emerging Architect Prize winner Bradley Kerr, Director of Winsor Kerr. Brad has taught into our foundation and bachelor’s studios and will teach a master’s studio this coming semester.

The Victorian Architecture Awards enables public and peer recognition of the innovative work of the Australian Institute of Architect’s members and promotes architects and architecture across Victoria and Australia.
