VIDEO CAMPAIGN: Alcohol Change – Real stories. Real People.

More Australians are reflecting on what healthy ageing means to them, and how alcohol fits into that picture. After in-depth discussions with Australians aged 55 to 75 one thing was clear: people wanted to hear real stories from others like them.

This series of short videos brings those stories to life – they share how small changes in drinking habits can lead to big benefits – stronger social connections, better sleep, and a clearer path to ageing well.

PRACTITIONER & EDUCATOR SUPPORT: Alcohol & Other Drugs – Your Language Matters! View

Each year, Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) are involved in more than 137,000 hospital admissions but it can take 18 years (on average) for somebody experiencing problems with a substance to seek treatment. Many then face barriers to remain engaged in AOD treatment.

Working to understand the Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) patient journey, and to improve treatment access and engagement in care, these poster resources are available to assist Clinicians and reduce stigma when talking with patients, families and carers about alcohol and drugs.

PRACTITIONER SUPPORT – Alcohol interventions for General Practice View

The REACH project, School of Primary and Allied Health Care, Monash University have developed resources to support GPs, nurses and other health care professionals to talk to their patients about alcohol use. Collaborating with the Alcohol Change team they designed a package of practical, evidence-based and informative resources with input from GPs, nurses and community members.

How alcohol harms your health

This suite of educational resources – many translated across multiple languages including english, arabic, chinese, traditional chinese, italian, greek and vietnamese – have been designed for:

Community members
GPs and Practice Nurses
Primary Health Networks

These resources are available for use within general practices across Australia, and include:
