Higher Education Academy Fellows
Five Monash Rural Health academics gained a Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy (HEA) in 2023. This prestigious achievement is recognised globally and acknowledges the commitment to quality teaching and educational innovation within our School.
David Byrnes was appointed to the position of Aboriginal Communities Engagement Lead in March 2023. David is a proud Kokatha man, born and bred on Latji Latji country in Mildura. He brings significant experience in Aboriginal education and community engagement and most recently worked as the Coordinator of Community Engagement for the Self Determination in Education Reform with the Koorie Outcomes Division in the Department of Education.
Local paediatrician and educator, Dr Anna Peterson was awarded the Dr Adele Callaghan Educator’s Award, sponsored by Monash Rural Health Bendigo. Born and raised in the area, Dr Peterson was nominated for the award by her own students for her empathetic teaching style.
