Master of Critical Care Paramedicine

The Master of Critical Care Paramedicine includes ten units of study that make up the core clinical units (48 CP). Following on from that, students can elect to complete their studies via two different pathways; the specialist electives pathway, or the research pathway.

Core clinical units

In the core clinical units, students will expand own their existing clinical knowledge, and will begin to develop their non-clinical skills, including decision making, leadership and communication. In these units, students will explore key critical care skills including intubation and Prehospital Emergency Anaesthesia, advanced diagnostics including blood gas interpretation and point of care ultrasound, and advanced pharmacological interventions to treat arrhythmias, coagulation and seizures.

Electives pathway

There are a broad range of electives available for student who choose to complete their Master of Critical Care by coursework. These electives have been selected by the faculty, and are designed to further develop the student’s skills on key topics like education, leadership, patient safety and simulation.

Research pathway

Alternatively, students can complete their Master of Critical Care Paramedicine through the undertaking of two guided, and supported research projects. For students who are considering a pathway to PhD, or who would like to undertake their own research, and contribute to the collective knowledge, the research pathway will allow you to develop a deeper knowledge of research methodologies, and teach you key research skills, with the goal of publishing your work.
