Associate Professor Alaa O. Oteir is an associate professor of paramedicine at the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, Jordan University of Science and Technology. He has also been an adjunct lecturer in the paramedicine department at Monash University, Australia. Dr Oteir is the first Jordanian paramedic with a PhD degree. Dr Oteir is interested in improving prehospital care through evidence-based practice.  He publishes in top emergency journals and presents at several international conferences and symposiums. He supervised several master's degree students covering different research topics. Dr Oteir research interest includes prehospital management of trauma emergencies, knowledge and attitude toward CPR, well-being of emergency health care providers, and other paramedicine-related research areas in general.
