INFINITE Influenza A Registry - Impact and risk factors associated with influenza (H1N1 09) In Australian Hospital system, Pandemic 2009
A prospective observational study of all confirmed influenza A patients admitted to intensive care units in Australia or New Zealand.
The registry commenced at the beginning of winter 2009, and collected information on all patients admitted to intensive care with confirmed influenza A. It was conducted at the height of the H1N1 2009 pandemic. It revealed that 722 patients were admitted to ICUs and that at the peak of the epidemic up to 20% of ICU beds were occupied by patients admitted because of infection with swine flu.
The study commenced at the beginning of winter 2009 and was completed by the end of 2010. It involved all Intensive Care Units in Australia and New Zealand.
