Healthwise Cancer Incidence and Mortality Study
Healthwise Cancer Incidence
and Mortality Study

The Healthwise Cancer Incidence and Mortality Study monitors employees' health over time to see if any differences exist in rates of death and cancer compared to the general community. Researchers can also examine whether there are any increased risks associated with particular types of work.
A list of all participating employees is used to search National/State Death and Cancer Registries and other disease registries of interest. These searches will be conducted at regular intervals in the future to monitor the health of all Healthwise participants.
This study recruited over 11,000 employees who worked between 1983 and 2004 and continues to follow-up workers even after they have left employment. The information obtained from Healthwise is important in identifying any factors that may be risking the health of aluminium industry employees.
