Our courses meet the relevant tertiary qualifications requirement under the Advanced Training Program of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
The Graduate Diploma and Master of Occupational and Environmental Health courses have been re-accredited by the Australian Occupational Health and Safety Education Accreditation Board in its second cycle from 2019–2023.
Short courses and professional development
MonCOEH staff coordinate short courses for specific specialist groups.
This short course is designed for occupational medicine trainees and GPs who assess patients with work-related problems. The course objectives include (but are not limited to) providing the knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose occupational diseases, perform medical assessments, and write a medicolegal report.
This two-week short course runs three times a year and covers the flight environment, altitude and pressure cabins, oxygen equipment, thermal stress, spatial disorientation, human factors in aviation, air traffic services, clinical aviation medicine, cardiology, respiratory medicine, drugs and alcohol, ophthalmology and otolaryngology, neurology, passenger fitness to fly, civil aviation medical certification, and aviation accident investigation.
Students visit Air Services Australia at Tullamarine (including a visit to the control tower) and will also experience a 737 flight simulator.
MonCOEH coordinates the Occupational Medicine and Environmental Medicine units in the five-year Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine degree.
