Occupational Lung Diseases in Australia

Occupational lung disease is a priority condition in the Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2012-2022 (Australian Strategy). Funded by Safe Work Australia, MonCOEH updated the report 'Occupational Lung Diseases in Australia', the first version of which it undertook in 2006.

The review examined key occupational lung diseases in Australia, data sources available to inform incidence; evidence of observable trends between 2006 and 2018; and workplace respiratory disease surveillance, and focused on the resurgence of pneumoconioses, both silicosis and coal workers’ pneumoconiosis, in Australia.

The report, published 7 August 2020, is available from the Safe Work Australia website.
