TRAVAID (TRAvel Vaccine decision AIDs)

TRAVAID is a multi-disciplinary research project focused on creating web-based tools to help people make informed decisions about vaccines. Our decision aids provide essential information about diseases and vaccines, outline different options (including types of vaccines and alternatives) and explain the associated risks and benefits. They also help users identify what matters most to them when making a decision.

We develop our tools following international best practices and use a method called co-design. This collaborative approach involves working closely with community members and healthcare providers to ensure our tools are both user-friendly and effective. Our team includes experts in vaccines, infectious diseases, travel medicine, social science, and a consumer representative.

While our decision aids are mainly designed for travellers, anyone can use them to learn more about vaccine-preventable diseases and vaccines.

Our first decision aid is for Australians planning to travel to areas at risk for Japanese encephalitis.
