Infectious Diseases Epidemiology
Our work enhances the prevention and control of infectious diseases, by creating new knowledge around prevalence, risk factors, and our understanding of how climate change and urbanisation are pushing infectious diseases into areas once considered safe.
We're part of the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
Research
Water, sanitation and health
Health risks related to contaminated environments and water sources are a key focus of our unit, with research influencing Australian national water guidelines and policy.
Travel-associated infections
We monitor the health of international travellers and migrants to understand the impact of infections at home and abroad, and investigate strategies to increase uptake of vaccinations.
Climate and health
Our climate-related research aims to examine how changes to the climate influence infectious disease patterns and explore evidence-based sustainability solutions for the healthcare system.
General research
We are continuously advancing understanding and strategies in infectious diseases research to inform effective prevention, treatment, and control measures.
