Our work
Obesity is a complex chronic disease that develops in genetically predisposed people in response to many (mostly environmental) factors. Obesity affects almost one-third of adults in Australia and more than 650 million people around the world.
We use the word “obesity” to refer to an excess of body fat that affects a person’s health. Our work aims to improve health and quality of life by improving the effectiveness, safety and accessibility of treatment for obesity. Our research includes clinical trials, registry-based cohort and real-world studies of obesity medications and bariatric surgery.
