Description
Our team specialises in conducting comprehensive economic evaluations in parallel with clinical trials. Our work includes both within-trial analyses, which assess economic outcomes during the trial period, and longer-term, model-based economic modelling to project costs and benefits beyond trial timeframes. We are involved in every stage of the process, from designing the evaluation framework, carrying out the analyses, and interpreting the findings, through to preparing detailed reports. Our expertise spans a diverse range of therapeutic areas and disease conditions. We work in close partnership with clinical trial teams, ensuring that each evaluation is carefully tailored to the distinct challenges and requirements of its context.
Below are some examples of the economic evaluations alongside clinical trials our team has undertaken:
- Economic evaluation alongside the RATIONAL Platform Trial to assess cost-effectiveness of the platform trial interventions which include intravenous immunoglobulin (Ig) at varying doses and prophylactic and 'when needed' antibiotics.
- Economic evaluation alongside the MY-PROMPT-2 trial which is assessing whether real-time symptom feedback using patient-reported outcome measures improves duration on treatment, leading to better patient outcomes and more efficient use of these high-cost medicines in patients with myeloma.
- Economic evaluations alongside smoking cessation trials assessing vaping versus nicotine replacement therapy, Quitline versus text messages, and cytisine versus varenicline, including:
- Economic evaluation alongside a cluster randomised controlled trial assessing the Use of an electronic medication management application to support Pharmacists Review to Optimise Medicines in Residential Aged Care (PROMPT-RC)
- Economic evaluation alongside the BRIDGE-ED trial, a multi-site stepped wedge cluster-controlled trial comparing the costs and benefits of Disability Liaison Officers (DLOs) for people with intellectual and other disabilities in Australian Emergency Departments (EDs) compared to standard care.
- Economic evaluation alongside a randomised controlled trial assessing the effect of approach bias modification during alcohol withdrawal treatment on craving, and its relationship to post-treatment alcohol use.
