Economic Modelling of Health Policies and Technologies
Overview
Our research has influenced the composition of the Pharmaceutical and Medicare Benefits Schedules in Australia, funding for primary care, and highlighted the critical role of implementation design to improve efficiency in health care systems.
To address these questions, our researchers employ a diverse range of approaches, drawing on the most advanced methods from economics, health services research, and related disciplines. Common to these approaches is a deep understanding of decision-makers’ requirements and the potential of available data. When modelled and analysed appropriately, randomised controlled trials, clinical registries, patient-reported outcomes, population surveys, claims data and other large linked datasets can provide important insights to inform decision-making.
