The Centre of Health Economics (CHE) integrated PhD program offers the opportunity to work with leading health economists on research that can shape policy, advance methods and improve lives.

The program will provide you with advanced research training in health economics, empirical policy evaluation, and health econometrics.

You will also have the opportunity to undertake further training in microeconomic theory, advanced econometrics, industrial organisation, or public economics.

The benefits of our integrated PhD program

PhD graduates Dr Michelle Escobar Carias and Dr Adam Dzulkipli, and PhD Coordinator A/Prof Sonja de New, reveal the many opportunities the centre's leading integrated PhD program provides, such as working with leading health economists in the world on research that can shape policy, advance methods and improve lives.

Course structure

Your study will begin with one year of coursework and research training, through the Master of Commerce degree, second year entry.

Upon successful completion of one to two years of the Master of Commerce, you will transition to the PhD, working closely with academics in the Centre for Health Economics on your doctoral research questions.

Throughout your PhD, you will attend regular seminars by guest lecturers and have opportunities to attend conferences and workshops to advance your skills in research and to help you prepare for a career post-PhD.

Your study will culminate in a written thesis, which offers a significant contribution to the current body of knowledge in your chosen research area.
