Economics of Primary Care 2025

This course will be led by Professor Anthony Scott. Topics covered will include the role of primary care in health care systems, how financing and payment reform can influence health system goals, and the primary care workforce.

Prof Scott’s research interests focus on the behaviour of physicians, the health workforce, incentives and performance, primary care and hospitals.

Prof Scott has consulted and provided advice to the World Bank, the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority, the Productivity Commission, Medibank Private, and Commonwealth and State Departments of Health.

He was the academic lead of the Medicine in Australia: Balancing Employment and Life (MABEL) panel survey of 10,000 physicians, and a Lead Investigator on the NHMRC Partnerships Centre on Health System Sustainability.
