Value-based Healthcare 2025

This course will be led by Associate Professor Duncan Mortimer. It will include definitions of value and low value care, methods for measuring value, value and payment reform, and value-based decision making.

A/Prof Mortimer’s research interests include the economics of charitable giving, the role of incentives in promoting pro-social behaviours, and the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of behavioural economics strategies in promoting healthy lifestyle.

He has completed commissioned research for the World Health Organization, World Bank, National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission, Therapeutic Goods Administration, and Commonwealth and State Departments of Health.

Findings from his research have been cited in Hansard (parliamentary debates) and in policy documents published by Productivity Commission, National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the European Union (EU).
