Victoria and Tasmania

All students are instructed to avoid travel to and via the Middle East due to the escalating security tensions in the region. You must not book flights that transit via the affected region and any country listed by DFAT Smartraveller as Level 3: Reconsider your need for travel or Level 4: Do not travel. If you travel to regions or countries with these ratings, you will not be covered by the Monash University travel insurance. Read the latest update

Accounting study tour

Victoria and Tasmania, 1 – 15 July 2026

About this program

Selected students will be enrolled in units ACX3500 or ACX5951 for the WS-01 teaching period. This unit may count towards your postgraduate or undergraduate degree as a major, capstone, or elective unit.

This study tour offers a unique opportunity to delve into accounting issues with a focus on environmental, social, and sustainability considerations in the public sector and not-for-profit. Through visits in Tasmania and Victoria, students will gain valuable insights into how these critical themes intersect with accounting practices in real-world settings.

This tour will focus on three key sectors: public health, not-for-profit and the arts, to understand how 'value' and 'service' are defined within social and public spaces.

The program will include a masterclass on the circular economy offering students an immersive experience in this growing field. Additionally, we will visit several organisations to explore their approach to organic accounting where we will examine agricultural accounting practices.
