Engaging with International Business, Vietnam
5 – 18 January 2024
BEX3723/5723 Engaging with International Business, Vietnam
This unit may count as a capstone or an elective unit in your undergraduate or postgraduate degree
Every offering of 'Engaging with international business' is themed to reflect issues facing business in the location in which it is taught, and faced by contemporary businesses operating globally. Through our immersive study tour in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, you will have a unique opportunity to apply your business and commerce knowledge within the context of globalization and business operations in an emerging economy.
Over the past fifty years, Vietnam has emerged from war and poverty to become one of the fastest-growing economies in the Indo-Pacific region. In this program, we will examine the interplay between Vietnam’s traditional culture and value systems and the country’s recent economic, social and environmental changes. In addition to gaining insights into Vietnam's politics and culture, we will explore the importance of sustainability, the growth of entrepreneurial activities, and foreign investment in the region.
In this unit, you will work both in teams and individually to develop a range of skills including critical analysis of global and local issues affecting businesses operating in Vietnam. We will, of course, be mixing industry insights with some amazing cultural and social experiences including a homestay in the Mekong Delta, and visiting a start-up brewery. You will also be able to engage with local students to gain first-hand insights into living and studying in Vietnam.
