The Organisation

Melbourne Adult Migrant English Program (operated by Melbourne Polytechnic) offers the AMEP Volunteer Tutor Scheme to newly arrived Melbourne AMEP students. The program provides AMEP students with the opportunity to practise English conversation and connect with the wider community through weekly online meetings.

About the Program

Volunteers support the AMEP activities that are facilitated by staff and held throughout the week online via zoom. Students engage in conversation with AMEP students on selected settlement topics and areas of interest. The purpose of this engagement is to offer AMEP students an opportunity to speak in English, practising conversational English in small groups with a trained volunteer.

Engagement programs include:

  • Conversation Clubs (Online)
  • Professional Development Workshops (Online)
  • Mock Interviews as a panellist with another volunteer (Online)
