The Organisation

The Smith Family is a national, independent children’s charity, helping children and young people impacted by poverty to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves. Its mission is to create opportunities for young Australians in need by providing long-term support for their participation and success in education.

The volunteering opportunity

Learning Clubs provide a safe, fun, and supportive learning environment where students can get help with their schoolwork or participate in activities which strengthen their academic and social skills. This extra learning and interpersonal support provided by our Clubs and tutors helps students experiencing poverty to keep up in class, stay engaged with their education, and succeed at school. Volunteers are able to participate as Learning Club tutors, assisting with learning activities and homework tasks.
