Resilient and quantum-safe threshold cryptography

This project aims to develop quantum-safe threshold encryption and/or authentication algorithms, along with software prototypes to demonstrate their implementation. The goal is to strengthen the security of Australian critical infrastructure by protecting it against future threats posed by quantum computing.

Techniques and Frameworks for Enabling Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Migration

This project focuses on developing techniques and frameworks to support the migration to post-quantum cryptography (PQC), helping protect critical infrastructure from quantum-based cyber threats. The project will deliver methods, tools, and prototype solutions for trusted PQC migration, enhancing the resilience and security of Australian critical infrastructure against future quantum attacks.

Foundation Models for Brain Data

This project is expected to develop a novel EEG foundation model capable of learning unified representations of brain activity from heterogeneous datasets. The research will leverage large-scale EEG recordings collected from multiple devices and experimental paradigms through collaboration with Emotiv, a global neurotechnology company. The resulting model will support applications such as cognitive state estimation, brain–computer interfaces, and mental wellbeing monitoring. The learned representations will also enable integration with language and vision models, supporting emerging capabilities including EEG-to-text decoding and AI-driven neurotechnology applications.

Energy-Efficient Decentralised Training Frameworks for Large-Scale AI Models on Geo-Distributed Infrastructure

The project is expected to generate new knowledge, tools, and practical frameworks for reducing the energy footprint of large-scale AI training while improving the accessibility and efficiency of AI infrastructure. Expected outcomes include novel decentralised training algorithms, energy-efficient orchestration techniques, open-source software artefacts, high-quality research publications, and potential translation pathways into industry systems.

Privacy-Preserving AI for Human-Centric Video Analytics

The research will utilise anonymised industry datasets and be validated using Aervision's commercial AI platforms, providing a direct pathway from research to deployment. The project will contribute to Australia's capability in trustworthy and responsible AI while advancing commercially deployable video analytics technologies.
