The program

Design proto-TYPES
Prototypes are design outcomes that test how an idea might operate in the world. This session will introduce you to the prototype process; using type and language as the foundation of the project. Whether you're interested in Communication Design, Industrial Design or Spatial Design this project will surface your creative skills in design; provide you with methods to generate design ideas, and allow you to experience the Monash approach to design education.

Mock Architecture Studio
In this mock studio workshop, you will experience first-hand what it's like to be an architecture student working collaboratively to put ideas to work in the world. You will learn about our architectural studio environment and approach and how we prepare our students to be work-ready by working on a real-life project and sites after their time with us.

About Design

The Department of Design at Monash University is home to four exciting design degree programs: the Bachelor of Communication Design, the Bachelor of Industrial Design, the Bachelor of Spatial Design, and the Bachelor of Collaborative Design. Design has global impact. It aids our journey through life; helps us communicate; builds communities, addresses complex challenges, and in doing so, projects us forward into new and exciting futures. The design degrees we offer empower their cohorts with the knowledge and skills to make significant contributions to the world through design thinking, design making, and design technologies.

About Architecture

Combine your creative vision and technical expertise to shape the future of society, through great design in the built environment.  You’ll learn to think beyond the building to create inspiring and sustainable solutions that transform the way we live, and spaces, places, and communities that improve our quality of life.  The Bachelor of Architectural Design is the first step on the journey to becoming an architect, and forms part of a five‐year specialist degree with the Master of Architecture. Graduates from Monash have gone on to work in private practices and for government, as urban designers, planning consultants, policy advisors, project managers, town planners, and more.

This workshop will explore form and image-based outcomes and will take you through the process of creating a three-dimensional abstracted form in clay, and then using this form as the basis for generating drawing or painting works. Working both individually and collaboratively with the group, you can experience various workshop and media available at Monash and develop new approaches to your own art practice.   Register for this event here
